5th Annual Love the Boot at Galvez Garden a Tremendous Success

This year the Incubator hosted our 5th annual Love the Boot Day. We were lucky to have the wonderful volunteers from Hotard help us out for the second year in a row.

Love the Boot Week is Louisiana’s largest litter removal and beautification effort, bringing awareness to our state’s litter problem while empowering organizations and individual citizens to clean up litter and beautify spaces in their communities.

When we showed up to the garden the sky was black with clouds. Despite a rainy start, we accomplished so much in our time together!

A powerful rainstorm almost kept us from achieving our goals

With smiles on our faces, we moved approximately 30 yd.³ of mulch to the vegetable garden and dug 25 feet of trenching for our new micro irrigation system.

We cleared the space for our new shipping container to be installed and did a huge chunk of the heavy lifting required in order to water our vegetable garden most efficiently with the new slow drip irrigation systems.

We are so grateful for the hardworking volunteers who made this possible. Check out the highlights of our morning together in the video below.

Thanks to Keep Louisiana Beautiful for creating this beautiful collaborative week of action in our state!
