The NOLA Artist Incubator Hosts a Second Line to Celebrate “Arts, Education, Sustainability, and Cultural Development Day”

We are pleased to announce we hosted “A Garden Party; Ribbon Cutting Ceremony & Collaborative Cultural Arts & Crafts” this Sunday! The event included:

•Magical Mobile Art Cart Tour; •Second Line Featuring Shannon Haynes Brass Band; •Acoustic Performance Featuring Bogue Chitto; •Collaborative Installation with Featured Artist Lissie Stewart; AND •Special Appearance by Big Chief Tee of the Black Hawk Hunters!

From 10:00-12:30 we celebrated all of the hard work we’ve been up to, our accomplishments at the garden, and reading our Mayoral Proclamation declaring May 21st as “Arts, Education, Sustainability, and Cultural Engagement Day”!

And of course, we had our Magical Mobile Art Cart on display for the event. We painting a rain barrel from Greenlight New Orleans while listening to the smooth acoustic tunes of Bogue Chitto Band after the second line.

It was a delight to celebrate planting our Native Plant Initiative, progress we’ve achieved in our Cultivating the Community Garden Award project, and successfully completing our premiere residency at the 2023 Jazz and Heritage Festival. Today marks a year and a half since we broke ground at the Galvez Garden, and we’re excited we embraced the culture that makes our city so vibrant.

We were so happy to everyone who came on down and be in that number to join us in honoring all our initiatives in a way that is uniquely NOLA!
