New Orleans, LA – The NOLA Artist Incubator is the recipient of a 2022 Beautification Grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful! The Incubator has been selected to receive a grant in the sum of $2,700 in support of the organization’s belief in the power of art to transform spaces. Through their mission; providing education, community outreach, and an Artist-in-Residence program, the NOLA Artist Incubator is committed to building a creative network of makers for a more sustainable New Orleans. We believe in the power of art to transform spaces.
The grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful will be applied to support the Native Plant Initiative at the Galvez Garden, a community garden and green space in the St. Roch neighborhood. With this funding the organization intends to grow more native plants, install a windbreak of bamboo, a trash can to deter littering, and a custom sign on the property. Lissie Stewart, the Executive Director and a Louisiana Master Gardener, is the lead designer for the Native Plant Initiative. With support from Keep Louisiana Beautiful, the Incubator will now be able to move forward in a timely manner to assist their work in creating sustainable green spaces to improve our city.
