More great news for the Incubator! We’re thrilled to be helping the Green Project with collecting compostable materials from the community. As of last Friday we officially took over The Green Project’s compost collection! Every Thursday they will continue to offer services as a compost drop off site for the community. On Fridays the Incubator -with the support of I Dig It, LLC and their space at Galvez Garden- will be collecting those scraps and turning them into compost for future green space creations!

In addition to recycling building materials and paint, they collect community compost and oyster shells to be recycled through The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana’s Oyster Shell Recycling Program. Shells that would otherwise be sent to landfills are instead used to build reefs that help minimize coastal erosion. The Green Project accepts shells from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and compost on Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

If you want to drop off compost or oyster shells, visit the Green Project at 2831 Marais Street.
