St. Roch Revitalization Project Updates

The NOLA Artist is pleased to announce we are entering into phase three of the St. Roch Revitalization Project. With financial support from Norfolk Southern, the organization is installing new benches and plants along six blocks of the District D section of St. Roch Avenue.

The Need

When looking at the crime map of this area in the neighborhood of St. Roch, there is a notable increase in crime in the area surrounding St. Roch Avenue that does not have established beautification projects on the neutral ground. By comparison, the safest areas are those with plantings, walking paths, lighting, and benches. The neighborhood is divided by districts, and just past the park, District D of St. Roch is neglected.

In 2023 the organization initiated the St. Roch Avenue Revitalization Project with the addition of a new neighborhood sign, seating area, and native plant garden installed in 2024. In aims to continue this beautification project, we intend to add seating and planting between the park and the canal, from North Johnson Street to Law Street.

Working with Youth Rebuilding New Orleans and the Department of Parks and Parkways, the Incubator has been tirelessly planning for approval of new seating in this area.

Our aim is to increase walkable green spaces and safety with these improvements. We encourage feedback from neighbors and stakeholders. Please feel free to use the following link to provide feedback for the project through April 30th, 2025.
