Solar Power Coming to Galvez Garden

We are pleased to share that we have entered into a partnership with the Footprint Project to provide solar energy for our greenhouse. With a mission to provide cleaner energy for communities in crisis, between disasters they partner with mutual aid networks, non-profits, schools, fire stations, and government entities to cut diesel, cut carbon, and cut costs. Through grassroots networks and on-the-ground partnerships, the Footprint Project is planting seeds of resilience within communities disproportionately affected by the impacts of climate change. They helped our organization power our operation with mobile solar energy, building resilience through mobile solar access and education.

During their visit they provided a portable solar generator and two solar panels to be installed on the pergola of the greenhouse.

This will provide us the ability to grow in the greenhouse year round through powering our exhaust fan in the heat of the summer. It will provide enough power for our thermometer and a fan for the farm animals to stay comfortable when it gets hot outside. Additionally, we will now have the ability to serve as a charging station in times of power outages. We are so grateful for this partnership and how it helps expand our growing capabilities and offerings.

Thank you Footprint Project!
