Galvez Garden is proud to announce the expansion of its sustainability efforts with the introduction of a new partnership with NOLA Cans 4 Food. This exciting initiative will complement our ongoing collaboration with Compost NOW, in which the Incubator has successfully composted over 20,000 pounds of food waste from our landfills.

In addition to can recycling, residents can continue to drop off frozen food scraps for composting, a service we’ve proudly offered with Compost NOW for the last three years. This ongoing effort encourages individuals to divert organic waste from landfills, promoting a healthier environment and showcasing the benefits of composting. By enriching the soil, composting plays a vital role in our sustainable gardening and farming practices at Galvez Garden.
Starting this Sunday, residents are invited to drop off their recyclable aluminum cans at Galvez Garden from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. In partnership with NOLA Cans 4 Food, these cans will not only be recycled but will also contribute to local food security initiatives. For every can collected, funds will be generated to provide meals for those in need, reinforcing our commitment to community support.
Galvez Garden is dedicated to fostering a greener, more equitable, and more sustainable community. We invite everyone to join us this Sunday and take part in this important movement toward sustainability and community engagement. Come on by and bring us your frozen food scraps and crushed cans to help grow and serve food to our community. Together, we can make a difference, one can and one scrap at a time!
