About Meghan

Meghan Smith is a student at Loyola University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Social Sciences. Originally from New York City, Meghan fell in love with New Orleans after moving here two years ago. Before attending Loyola, she was a Marine Science Technician in the Coast Guard, working to uphold environmental laws and regulations. She is part of the Loyola Philosophy Department’s Philosopher Kids program, where she will help introduce Philosophy to elementary school children.

Meghan is very passionate about the environment and is excited to explore the intersection of art, education, and sustainability at the community level through her internship with NOLA Artist Incubator. She looks forward to learning the inner workings of a nonprofit, including the importance of fostering meaningful relationships. Meghan is especially excited to immerse herself in Galvez Garden and deepen her knowledge through hands-on experience. She hopes to pursue a career where she can advocate for sustainable practices, potentially through environmental policy or environmental education. In her free time, she loves going to the beach with her husband, son, and two dogs.
