Looking back, 2024 was a huge year for the organization! In the area of the arts: the Incubator presented a four month exhibition at Longue Vue and hosted our Artist-in-Residency program supporting workshops and the creation of new artwork.

Working with the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Engagement, we facilitated the fabrication of a new landmark and green space in St. Roch and presented two public arts and cultural events supporting local artists, musicians, and culture bearers.

The Incubator also collaborated with other art organizations, schools, universities, and community organizations to present hands-on learning activities and seminars for diverse audiences over the course of the year.
In the area of education: the nonprofit facilitated our Budding Artists programming in partnership with the New Orleans Public Library with the support of the Jazz and Heritage Foundation; and, hosted multiple workshops at our garden on regenerative and sustainable urban gardening with the support of the New Orleans Recreation and Culture Fund.

To speak more on sustainability: we created a new sensory garden for children at NOLA Nature School with support from 4.0 Schools; and, the NOLA Artist Incubator is closing in on composting over 20,000 pounds of food waste through our community compost collection program. Through our efforts at the Galvez Garden we were honored to receive not one, but two awards for “Garden of the Year” and labeled as a “Garden for Good”. We received support from the Whole Foods Foundation and Nature’s Path Organic to build the greenhouse of our dreams and look forward to all the increased programming and production that will come as a result of the new infrastructure in 2025.

Looking back, we were true to our mission through our initiatives in the arts and education to create a network of makers for more equitable and sustainable New Orleans. And we are so grateful for our supporters! Looking forward, we already have a lot on the books and can’t wait to see what 2025 brings! Stay tuned!
