“What’s your wildest imagination?” was the prompt for Playbook’s latest challenge for creatives. The top 50 ideas with the most originality and community impact potential were awarded financial support to complete a creative project within a 30 day period. Upon selection, the chosen 50 creatives will join a 30-day cohort to #imaginewithPlaybook. The criteria for selection was based on:
- Originality and creativity,
- Personal growth,
- Community impact, and
- Presentation and feasibility.
“Our mission is simple: help creative people be more creative. With the $100K Imagination Fund, we want to bring the Playbook community together to let our imagination fly without financial worries getting in the way.”

Lissie proposed: “Community Canvas: Stories from the Garden” for her project.

Thinking of the organization first, Lissie thought of how support from this competition could aid in the work that’s been going on behind the scenes to install a greenhouse at the garden. Putting the community first she decided to engage neighbors in the process by creating a digital story telling station and hosting weekly art making activities at the garden.

Over the next 30 days Lissie will document all the preparation work that goes into getting a greenhouse for Galvez Garden. Currently the Incubator has received all the required permits from the city to install the greenhouse. The Galvez Garden has changed its land use to officially be agricultural land.

Lissie intends to work with Urbanscape Design & Build to lay a sustainable foundation that addresses stormwater management. Additionally we are pleased to report the organization is receiving donated recycled glass gravel from Glass Half Full to be the floor of the greenhouse. Lissie will be hosting the digital storytelling station and art activities over the month. Finally Lissie intends to install a moon gate in the vegetable garden. The original gate, sign, and farm stand will be relocated and Lissie will use a repurposed trampoline to create a more open entrance to the vegetable garden and micro farm.

Join us in congratulating our Executive Director and in our enthusiasm for all the great programming and projects that are coming to our garden! Here is where you can see Lissie’s proposal and updates:
