Whole Kids Foundation Awards Galvez Garden with Gardening Grant

We are pleased to announce that the NOLA Artist Incubator has received support from Whole Kids for Galvez Garden! We are delighted to have been selected from over 1,200 applications received from across the U.S. and Canada to grow our programming and the work we do to garden with kids!

In partnership with LSUAg the Galvez Garden is a Louisiana Master Gardener project site and a USDA People’s Garden located in St. Roch. Our teaching garden grows vegetables to examine how healthy eating leads to better communities. Through Whole Kids Garden Grant program, schools and non-profit organizations create or expand outdoor spaces into powerful hands-on learning gardens that connect kids with food, sparking curiosity and supporting educational programming. With a shared belief in the value of edible gardens as learning spaces, we plan to expand our edible educational garden through some new additions at Galvez Garden.

With support from Whole Kids we plan to:
•expand our food production and extend our growing season on site;
•increase activities in our educational programming; and,
•provide an additional space at the garden for children to learn about growing their own food.

Thank you to Whole Kids for your support and stay tuned for some great new additions to Galvez Garden!
