Galvez Garden Receives “Gardens for Good” Award from Nature’s Path

Nature’s Path has just announced that the Galvez Garden has been selected as one of fifteen community gardens in the US and Canada to receive the Gardens for Good grant. Five deserving gardens in Canada and ten located in the United States received the recognition. To quote Jyoti Stephens, Nature’s Path VP of Mission and Strategy,

“The winners we selected all exemplify the true spirit of Gardens for Good: Plant it Forward.”

Gardens for Good helps good things grow by awarding grants to support deserving non-profit agriculture projects providing accessible, healthy, organic food for their communities. The 2024 “Plant it Forward” award supports community gardens that provide access to organically grown food, helping alleviate food insecurity, and create a positive social impact on the communities in which they’re grown.

The 2024 winners were selected using a comprehensive evaluation process to prioritize garden initiatives that exhibit an exemplary commitment to organic practices with a notable impact on the wellbeing of their local community. The winners represent a diverse range of projects and communities, all sharing the common goal of sustainable, organic, community-centered partnership and service. And for the first time in the program’s history, 100% of the 2024 Gardens for Good: Plant it Forward grant recipients are BIPOC-led or serving organizations.

“I have never been more inspired by our applicants than I have been this year,” says Stephens. “Our 2024 winners are all organic changemakers, truly leaving the earth better than they found it.”
