The Incubator to Host, “Celebrate the Sign”

The vibrant community of St. Roch is set to host an exciting event, “Celebrate the Sign,” to mark the completion of a transformative beautification project. Organized by the NOLA Artist Incubator, in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Engagement, this event will honor the installation of native plants and the unveiling of a striking new neighborhood sign.

The project, funded by the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Engagement, aimed to enhance the visual appeal, add biodiversity through native plants, and celebrate the unique identity of St. Roch. Through the artistic vision of local talents, the NOLA Artist Incubator commissioned the fabrication and installation of the stunning new signage, reflecting the rich cultural heritage and vibrant spirit of the neighborhood.

Residents and visitors alike are invited to join in celebrating on May 25, 2024 from 10:00-12:00 on the neutral ground at St. Roch and North Johnson St. The celebration will kick off with a dedicated ceremony at 10:00, followed with live performances by Teena May and Big Queen of the 8th Ward Black Seminoles, Angel Chung Cutno. There will be discussion with folk artist, Sarah Ambrose and her art installation and opportunities to connect with neighbors at the newly adorned streetscape. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the significance of native plants in sustaining local ecosystems and fostering community resilience.
