Here are three reasons to visit NOLA East Saturday the 16th. You really don’t want to miss out on this event filled weekend!
Art in the Park
Our inaugural Art in the Park public art program is one week away! Art in the Park is scheduled to start at 9:30 and artists will have until 3:30 to complete their en plein air paintings at the Center. 10 artists will have day to complete 10 artworks based off observation from the natural environment at the preserve. The 2023 Art in the Park Cohort was selected from a highly competitive public call for art made in the spring. We can’t wait to see what this talented group of artists create next weekend! In addition to our Art in the Park public art program, there are two other awesome events happening next Saturday.
Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz
The Audubon is hosting Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz on Saturday the 16th. The Nation Recreation and Parks Association is hosting a day of observing and learning about pollinators at the center from 10:00-2:00. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about pollinators and pollinator gardens and will be photographing their findings from the field. The information collected will be used to create data for more research on pollinators in our region and nationwide. Both Art in the Park and Parks for will be located off Read Blvd. at 11000 Lake Forest Drive.
NOLA East Festival
The second annual NOLA East Festival is also happening on September 16th from 11:00-7:00. Right next door to the Audubon Louisiana Nature Center, the Friends of Joe W. Brown Park will be hosting the event at the park, located at 5601 Read Blvd. This family friendly celebration of the East will have live music, food, and information from local nonprofits at the event.

Come by the Audubon early to see our artists create, stay for the Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz , and be sure to check out all the fun at the NOLA East Festival while you visit!
